Computer Engineering Curriculum

The online Master of Science in Computer Engineering helps you master innovative thinking strategies and solve complex engineering challenges across both hardware and software. You'll explore advanced concepts in security and assurance, network systems, object-oriented design, data structures, computer architecture and advanced programming. 

The curriculum requires 30 credits—12 core course credits and 18 elective credits, with each course worth three credits—and can be completed in as few as 15 months. Electives let you specialize in areas such as VLSI design, AI, embedded systems and computer security.

Admissions Requirements:

  • Completed application
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.  Degree in computer science, computer engineering, cybersecurity or a related technical field is preferred.  Students with degrees from other fields are encouraged to apply, and may receive a Conditional Admit.  See below for more details.
  • Official degree-bearing transcripts
  • Resume detailing employment history, honors, and professional and community activities
  • Personal statement

No GRE scores are required to apply.

Core competency in discrete mathematics, calculus, data structures and computer organization, plus a programming language (C/C++ preferred) is required for our program.

Applicants without the necessary technical background are encouraged to apply and may receive a Conditional Admit to our program.  Applicants given a Conditional Admit will complete our bridge course sequence (3 courses), which will be available in early 2027.  Upon successful completion of the sequence, students are then given full admittance into our program.  The bridge course sequence is offered free of charge to applicants who are given a Conditional Admit to our program.
